Bill Anderson Raid on Danville.

A small, mid-Missouri town, going about its business, yet rife with
political undertones, Danville, Missouri in 1864 had managed to be spared
the main horrors of the Civil War.  Although there had been minor
skirmishes nearby, this sleepy town located on a main thoroughfare called
Booneslick Pike was considered a safe place to send the daughters of upper
class families from both the North and the South that they might attend the
reputable Danville Female Academy.  A moonlit night in October when
"Bloody" Bill Anderson rode quietly into town, leading Confederate
guerrillas seeking vengeance for real or imagined atrocities perpetrated
upon them and their families, transformed this idyllic setting into one of
fire and blood, changing its fortune and history for all times.
