Summary
of our last meeting:
- Roger Baker elected President
At our last meeting Roger Baker was
elected President to fill the
unexpired term left by the loss of our President George Lyons.
Our Secretary reports that we now have
30 dues paying members.
That is quite a tribute to George Lyons' leadership.
- Our
Secretary Harold Miederhoff gave us an excellent program on
Jubal
Early's Washington Raid, June 27 - August 4, 1864, a raid, which
if
properly executed, might have changed the civil war. Had Washington been
invaded prior to Lincoln's 1864 election and had Price not spent so much
time at Pilot Knob Lincoln might have been defeated and there might have
been a truce. Early was about a day late in attacking Washington
and withdrew when he found that he faced seasoned veterans rather than
clerks.
