Enjoy learning about the Civil War. Read and discuss Shelby Foote's classic, Shiloh, a deceptively simple work of imaginative history; Michael Shoara's Pulitzer Prize winner, The Killer Angels. which brings the battle of Gettysburg to life; and Charles Frazier's National Book Award winner, Cold Mountain. which tells the story of a wounded soldier's journey back to his sweetheart, and her fight for survival at home. Courage and cowardice, heartbreak on and off the battlefield, and what makes great leaders and great books are discussed. Don't miss this realistic vision of the Civil War Books and audio are available at libraries and bookstores. Class meets on Feb. 5, 26 March 19, & April 16, 23
